General Conditions
Surgery, Gastroenterology and Oncology considers for publication only articles written in English. The articles should be comprehensible to a English speaker and should be reviewed prior to submission to ensure that they comply with English grammar. Editing the article before submission could avoid delays due to the review process after submission.
All submitted manuscripts are subject to a careful review process.Surgery, Gastroenterology and Oncology complies with the rules of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE)(
Core practices | COPE: Committee on Publication EthicsICMJE | Recommendations).
All parties involved in the publication process (authors, reviewers, editors) are required to adhere to these principles.
Responsibilities of Authors
- The authors agree to their articles being peer-reviewed for possible publication, agreeing to submit only articles that have not been published, submitted simultaneously or already accepted for publication elsewhere.
- Copies of any possibly duplicate published material should be submitted with the manuscript under consideration, with a statement in the cover letter as to why the manuscript currently being submitted is not a duplicate publication.
- Cite content reproduced from other sources and obtain permission to reproduce any content from other sources.
- Authors must state all possible conflicts of interest in the manuscript, including financial, consultant, institutional and other relationships that might lead to bias or to a conflict of interest.
- All persons listed as authors are assumed to have been actively involved in one or more key aspects of the reported study.
- When reporting experiments on human subjects, authors should indicate whether the procedures followed were in accordance with the ethical standards of the responsible committee on human experimentation (institutional and national) and with the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Reviewers are required to accept to review manuscripts on subjects for which they have the expertise required.
- They will observe strict confidentiality regarding both the content of the manuscripts receive, as well as their entire correspondence with the Editorial Board.
- The Reviewers will decline to review any manuscript for which there is a conflict of interest related to academic, economic or personal relationship with the Authors.
- The Reviewers will not attempt to contact the Authors and are strictly prohibited to discuss any aspect of the reviewing process directly with the Authors.
Responsibilities of the Editors
- Monitors the online submission of articles.
- Supervises the peer-review process.
- Preserves the confidentiality of the parties involved (authors and reviewers).
- Protects copyright and intellectual property.
- Ensures that the form of the article conforms to the international guidelines.
- Ensures that all participants in the process work for timely publication.
